SafeTRAC is an on-board electronic warning system that prevents crashes caused by driver drowsiness or distraction. Manufactured and developed by Assistware Technology, SafeTRAC uses a forward-looking video camera to track a vehicle’s position in its lane. SafeTRAC generates a warning if a vehicle begins to drift out of its lane. The system also detects drowsy or distracted driving by sensing weaving or erratic lane keeping. SafeTRAC has the potential to prevent thousands of highway deaths and save billions of dollars annually by reducing the number of accidents caused by drowsy, distracted or inattentive driving.
